Ranking points recalculated after the junior series
Published 2026-06-09
Junior ranking points have been updated following the completion of this year's junior series, and the recalculated standings are now live on the Ranking page. The update folds in results from all four junior series events, and it moves a meaningful number of players into a higher category ahead of the spring qualifiers, which open registration on 1 September.
How junior series points work
Each junior series event awards ranking points based on the round reached and the strength of the draw, not just the final placing. A quarter-final finish against a top-eight seed can outweigh a runner-up finish in a shallow draw, which is why the point gap between two players with similar results can look larger than expected.
Points are calculated per event and then combined using a best-three-of-four rule: a player's total is the sum of their three highest-scoring events out of the four, so one weak result does not drag down an otherwise strong series. This is also why a player who skipped one event can still finish near the top — the system was designed around juniors juggling school schedules.
The four counting events this year were:
- Autumn Open (Brackmere Courts, March)
- Corvale Cup (April)
- Marnwood Junior Classic (May)
- Series Finale (Larkmoss Arena, late May)
Notable movers
Several players jumped a full category after the finale:
- Anika Thorvelt (U16) moved from Category C into Category B after a semi-final run at the Finale, backed by a title at the Corvale Cup.
- Milan Ravensholt (U14) climbed two sub-bands within Category C, the largest single jump recorded this series.
- Saskia Veldhorn (U18) secured a Category A place after consistent quarter-final-or-better results across all four events, without ever winning one outright.
- Noah Calvermont-Yun (U16) re-entered the ranked list after an injury layoff, returning directly into Category B on the strength of a wildcard run at Larkmoss.
Category boundaries themselves were also nudged slightly this cycle, since they are recalculated off the median points total for each age group rather than fixed thresholds. A stronger-than-usual U14 field this year means the U14 boundaries sit a little higher than last season's, so a flat points total can still mean a lower relative category.
How to check your ranking
Your updated position is visible from your Player Portal profile:
- Sign in and open the Ranking page from the main menu.
- Select the relevant age category and discipline (singles or doubles).
- Your row is highlighted, with the point breakdown per counting event shown underneath.
- A small arrow icon indicates whether you moved up, down, or held your category since the last recalculation.
Rankings used for spring qualifier seeding will be taken as a snapshot on 15 August, so any results from events played after that date will not affect qualifier placement, only the next full recalculation.
Reporting discrepancies
Occasionally a match result is recorded against the wrong draw slot, or a bye is miscounted as a played round, and the points total comes out wrong. If your total looks off:
- Check the per-event breakdown on your Ranking page first — most issues are a single mis-attributed match.
- Contact your home club's competitions secretary with the event name, round, and opponent for the disputed result.
- Your club will raise it with the regional office, which can correct the record and trigger a re-run of the affected category.
Corrections are batched and applied roughly every two weeks, so a fix may not appear immediately, but it will always be backdated to the original event date for seeding purposes.
